Meet the New S65 AMG Coupe
2015 S65 AMG Coupe comes with an AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic transmission
Let's skip right to the heart of the matter here: The 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe will move from the top of the range to over the top for the new selling season, thanks to the installation of a 6.0-liter, biturbo V12 engine from the performance experts of AMG—MB's long-time engineering partners.
The new powerplant will pour out 621 hp and 738 lb.-ft. of torque in the freshly minted S65 AMG Coupe, enabling drivers to sprint from 0-60 in 4 seconds and then keep running right up to an electronically limited 186 mph. Helping drivers manage that kind of output is an AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic transmission, and while that's obviously an automatic, it does offer three shifting modes for "Controlled Efficiency," "Sport" driving and "Manual" operation.
Of course, the upgraded version of the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe also gets access to the full range of AMG performance enhancers, including the Magnetic Body Control system that lets the car "lean into bends in a manner similar to a motorcyclist or skier." The result is a notably more refined driving experience that builds on the performance-boosting Road Surface Scan technology; this latter system relies on a stereo camera setup to analyze oncoming road conditions then automatically optimize the suspension in advance.
The S65 AMG Coupe also will be distinguished from the more mundane versions of the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe by its AMG-sourced design cues, which include exclusive exterior and interior accents. Among the highlights: custom-tailored AMG sport seats, model-specific leather cabin appointments and a cutting-edge assortment of infotainment, connectivity and safety technologies.
Also in the mix are standard and available goodies like:
The latest extension of the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class—the 2015 S65 AMG Coupe—is slated to launch in this country by the end of the year; just keep in mind that dealers will begin accepting orders "in the coming weeks," and folks are urged to move quickly to avoid the waiting list.
