The Subaru Impreza is often overlooked in a sea of affordable economy cars. Most compacts are built with the singular intention of getting a group of people and their things from Point A to B while consuming as little fuel as possible - without regard to style and comfort. The Impreza, however, is blessed with the beauty of All-Wheel-Drive and can go where others don’t dare. This is part of why the Japanese automaker is so popular in snowy climates.
Another of Subaru’s signature touches are the horizontally opposed Boxer engines that power all of their vehicles. The flat four-cylinder design gives the car a low center of gravity for better handling and a row hood line for better visibility. Starting at $23,295, the 2.0i Sport Limited's two-liter motor makes 148 HP and 145 lb-ft of torque and is available with either a five-speed manual or Subaru’s own Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission. The Impreza 2.0i Sport Limited is capable of returning up to 27 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway.
Competitors for the 2015 Subaru Impreza include the KIA Forte, Mazda3 and Volkswagen Golf.
