Versatile Crossover Comes Standard with Cutting-edge Safety Tech
For those who want to stand out from the crossover crowd, yet still benefit from the peace of mind that comes from buying a mainstream product, the 2014 Honda Crosstour went on sale today with an MSRP of $27,380. The price tag is $150 higher than for the 2013 model, and the current one only adds an Expanded View Driver’s Mirror, yet that’s mostly because it already comes with many of the typical technologies that today’s crossover customers demand.
For example, the standard 2014 Honda Crosstour features:
Also standard are up to 51.3 cubic feet of highly reconfigurable cargo space, along with a hidden and removable utility box.
Drivers also can choose from either a 31-mpg 4-cylinder engine that makes 192 hp and 162 lb.-ft. of torque or a more powerful Earth Dreams 3.5-liter V6, capable of 278 hp and 252 lb.-ft. of torque and 30 mpg. The former is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission with Grade Logic Control for easy starts on an incline, while the latter gets a six-speed automatic unit with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Honda’s Real Time 4-Wheel Drive is available as well, as are technologies like satellite-linked navigation, a leather cabin with heated front-row seating, the HondaLink connectivity/media system, and driver-assistance measures like forward-collision warning, blind-spot alert and lane-departure warning.
The party line from Honda: “The 2014 Honda Crosstour offers a unique combination of crossover practicality, sedan-like drivability and premium features” that make it “the smartest option in the premium mid-size crossover segment.”
