2013 Volvo S60 T6 R-Design Video Review

When you think of Volvo, you think of the brand’s commitment to safety and their lineup of wagons. You might not think of them as offering some of the most exciting vehicles on the market, but they have in the past with such models as the 850R, V70R, and S60R. Now Volvo is showing their crazy side once again with the new 2013 S60 R-Design.

The S60 R-Design begins with unique body kit that includes a lower front spoiler, eighteen-inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler, and rear diffuser with dual-exhaust pipes. You can also order your S60 R-Design in wild Rebel Blue paint to give it more presence. If you think the Rebel Blue is a bit too much, you can get the S60 R-Design in black, grey, red, silver, or white. Inside, the S60 R-Design adds black leather, an R-Design steering wheel, and design inlays with the R-Design logo.

Under the hood of the S60 R-Design is Volvo’s stalwart turbocharged inline-six engine. Usually the T6 produces 300 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, but the R-Design is packing 325 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. This is thanks to Volvo’s performance partner, Polestar, which adds a new computer chip to help increase power. A six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive help get the power to the wheels. EPA rates the S60 R-Design at 18 City/25 Highway/21 Combined. Other mechanical changes include a 15 millimeter drop to the suspension, stiffer springs and bushings, a strut tower brace, and Mono-tube shocks in the rear.

A 2013 Volvo S60 R-Design will start at $44,100 and climbs up to $46,800 for the S60 R-Design Platinum. Competitors to the S60 R-Design include the Audi S4, BMW 335i xDrive, and Mercedes-Benz C350 4Matic.
