Planned for Debut At Frankfurt
Land Rover is launching not one, but two production hybrid models at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month. The two models are the Range Rover Hybrid and Range Rover Sport Hybrid.
The two models utilize a 3.0L turbodiesel V6 and a 35kW electric motor integrated into the eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. Total output stands at 335 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. 0-60 MPH takes around 6.7 seconds for the Range Rover Sport and 6.9 seconds for the Range Rover. Not bad considering the hybrid system adds about 264 pounds to the total weight of the two vehicles. Fuel economy is rated at 36.75 mpg on the European cycle.
The Range Rover Hybrid and Range Rover Sport Hybrid begin production sometime in early 2014 for the European market. Land Rover isn't saying at this time if the U.S. will see these models.
