Ford has released the details on the 2012 Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson™. While most car companies do not pick the dog days of summer to reveal their updates, this special edition truck was appropriately announced at the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
Since this is a Harley-Davidson edition, it is no surprise that black returns as one of the two exterior color choices. The second color swaps last year's Ingot Silver Metallic for a new White Platinum Tri-Coat. The silver is still utilized on the outside as part of a flame accent that also features a snakeskin texture.
The snakeskin theme is continued on the inside where the center console and steering wheel feature these textured leather inserts. The top of the leather seats also gets the snakeskin treatment. Everything else in the interior is either chrome or black, including the obligatory metal Harley-Davidson badge on the center console.
The Harley-Davidson edition is the most expensive truck in the F-150 lineup. It tops premium pickups like the King Ranch and Raptor because there is hardly an option to be had on this truck. The H-D F-150 comes standard in four-door SuperCrew cab body. Inside there is a power moonroof, rear view camera, heated seats for front and rear, remote start, and power-adjustable pedals. In addition to the 8-inch touch-screen command center, a 4.2-inch LCD screen is positioned between the tachometer and speedometer to give the driver readouts for everything from fuel economy to towing performance.
There may be many virtues to the F-150's new EcoBoost V-6 engine, but the gas sipper image does not exactly work on a truck looking to be the boss of the road. Instead this edition of the F-150 will continue with the 6.2-liter V-8 making 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque (currently rated at 13/18 mpg city/highway in two-wheel drive mode.) Putting this power to the ground are the standard 22-inch machined-aluminum wheels with painted accents.
Ford has not yet released pricing info on the 2012 F-150 Harley-Davidson. The 2011 model starts at $49,500, and it can be expected that this 2012 special edition will retain its status as the top of the F-150 price ladder.
