Volkswagen has a long history of producing one of the world’s most iconic hatchbacks, the Golf, as well as cutting-edge, fuel-efficient turbo diesel technology. When the two come together, it's like a match made in Wolfsburg. The Sportwagen is powered by a 2.0 Liter turbocharged alternative fuel motor that pumps out a reasonable 150-hp, and returns an estimated 31 mpg in the city and up to 43 mpg on the highway. Combine the fuel savings with the added storage space from what could be considered a plus-sized hatchback, and the 2015 Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen seems like the perfect alternative to the CUV.
Competitors for the 2015 Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen include the Audi allroad, BMW 328d Sports Wagon and Toyota Prius v.
