Marks Sixth Subaru Vehicle To Earn the Distinction
The 2015 Subaru WRX has been named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) this week. To earn the Top Safety Pick designation, a vehicle must earn a "Good" rating on the institute's small overlap front impact, moderate overlap front impact, side impact, and roof strength tests. The WRX passed all of these tests with flying colors. The only reason the WRX was ineligible for the institute's Top Safety Pick+ is that it doesn't come with active safety features like forward collision warning or brake-assist.
"Safety is one of our brand tenets and so we are extremely proud to have earned a TSP rating for our performance models" said Thomas J. Doll, president and chief operating officer, Subaru of America, Inc. “We are committed to providing engaging driving together with safety and this award is testament to that commitment.”
With the WRX earning the Top Safety Pick designation, Subaru now has six vehicles with either the Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ honors.
