Global LEAF Sales Top 130K
puerto rico nissan dealer
The world's best-selling EV reached another new market recently, when the first 2015 Nissan LEAF was delivered to Puerto Rico—right along with the second. Both were purchased by Windmar Renewable Energy, a local business run by the González family. According to Windmar's owner, Victor González: "We were very anxious for the arrival of the LEAF. Nissan decided to bring them here and we were delighted to make the purchase. The vehicle has given us excellent results."
And while those will vary based on individual driving habits, the EPA rates the 2015 Nissan LEAF as providing an all-electric, zero-emissions driving range of 84 miles on a single charge, backed by efficiency grades of 126 MPGe city/101 MPGe highway/114 MPGe combined. As a result, the EPA also reports that the typical 2015 Nissan LEAF owner will save $8,500 in fuel costs during the first five years of driving (as compared to "the average new vehicle"). When you also factor in a practical MSRP of $29,010—that comes down to $21,510 after a federal tax credit—it's easy to understand the sales momentum that brought the 2015 Nissan LEAF to Puerto Rico, too.
Last month alone, the 2015 Nissan LEAF scored an all-time July sales record in this country, delivering 3,019 units that marked a 62 percent jump as compared to July 2013; sales of the LEAF are up 34.6 percent on a year-to-date basis, thanks to 29,241 deliveries. Then, with those orders in the book, and the 2015 Nissan LEAF now sold in 35 countries across four different continents, international deliveries for the vehicle topped the 130,000 mark.
