The Jeep Grand Cherokee has long been designed for universal appeal, configurable enough to grab buyers at a wide variety of price points. For 2015, that hasn’t changed. Entry level shoppers can get a front-wheel-drive Grand Cherokee Laredo; those with about twice as much cash to spend might like the Grand Cherokee SRT, which is as capable on the track as it is on the trail. Chris Wardlaw, Autobytel’s Road Test Editor, tested a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, which is the mainstream model. Autobytel’s test car featured the EcoDiesel engine, which is a 3-liter 6-cylinder turbodiesel that produces 240 horsepower and provides an energetic and confident driving experience. The 2015 Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel is rated for fuel economy of 24 mpg in combined driving. The EcoDiesel also adds $4500 to the price of the car, though, and combined with some of the higher end options can easily push a Grand Cherokee above the $50,000 mark. These options include the Quadra-Lift air suspension system, which features four different modes, such as lower for extra aerodynamics, or extra ground clearance for low speeds on the trail. The Grand Cherokee’s cabin is a little cramped in the backseat, but offers a lot of other comfort features such as climate-controlled and power-adjustable front seats, a panoramic moonroof, and several power outlets.
