Rhys Millen, driving in a race-ready version of the 2015 Hyundai Veloster, recently claimed his second Global Rallycross victory in the past three events, winning the second round of competition at the series’ stop in Los Angeles. That came less than a month after Millen topped the Rallycross field in Florida for his initial checkered flag of the year, and the latest run was accomplished in dominating fashion. Not only did Millen put his Veloster on the pole position to start the L.A. event, he also stayed there for the entire race.

Said Millen after the victory: "We're extremely proud of our Hyundai team’s second win of the 2014 season, coming fresh off our victory in Daytona just a few short weeks ago. It's amazing; we just believe in the car and myself and the crew. We brought that momentum to Los Angeles, qualifying fastest yesterday, winning the semi-final and then the main without being passed. I couldn't be more proud of our effort.”

It’s also worth noting that Millen scored a strong fourth-place finish in the first round of racing in Los Angeles, held the day before, and finished within six seconds of the eventual race winner during that round of competition.

Now it’s time to see if the old strategy of “win on Sunday, sell on Monday” works with the 2015 Hyundai Veloster, which certainly could use some help. Despite its dynamic style and practical MSRP of $18,000, sales of the 2015 Hyundai Veloster have languished so far this year, with the company delivering 20,188 units through the end of August, marking a decline of 3.9 percent as compared to the same period in 2014.

As for the 2014 Global Rallycross season, it finishes with events in Seattle (9/27) and Las Vegas (11/5), providing both Millen and the 2015 Hyundai Veloster with two more opportunities help finish the year with a winning record.
