The 2015 Chrysler Town and Country enters the new model year with one important sales distinction and two fresh models. With regard to the former, the Town and Country was the best-selling minivan in the country last year, a title it hopes to keep by introducing the latter: The Town & Country LX, offering a high-value package with features like a rearview camera, leather-trimmed seats and the brand’s “Stow ‘n Go” seat-management system. There's also the ultra-lux Town & Country Platinum, boasting the SafetyTec suite of driver-assistance features, a power sunroof and a dual-screen Blu-ray entertainment setup for rear-seat passengers.

Styling

Traditional minivan design is a hallmark of the Town and Country exterior, with owners also able to enjoy expressive chrome accents, choose from four 17-inch wheel designs and even upgrade to a blackout-style appearance in the S trim, highlighted by “hyper black” aluminum wheels, a black chrome grille and piano-black cabin accents.

Other premium interior cues for the Town and Country line include standard leather seating, as well as available second-row captain’s chairs and a wood-trimmed and leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Performance

Minivan motivation here comes from the award-winning Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 engine, which delivers a best-in-class 283 hp to go with its 260 lb.-ft. of torque. Connected to a six-speed automatic transmission, that powerplant enables EPA fuel-economy scores of 17 mpg city/25 mpg highway/20 mpg combined, while also providing enough output to haul up to 3,600 lbs. (when properly equipped).

Safety

The Chrysler Town and Country offers a number of top driver-assistance features, including a rearview camera (standard), blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path detection, rain-sensitive wipers, automatic high beams and a rear park-assist system. Additionally, owners can order a trailer-sway damping system to help take advantage of the Town and Country’s towing capabilities. All told, Chrysler boasts that its minivan entry serves up “more than 40 available safety and technology features,” and that also includes a full array of airbags, including side-curtain protection for all rows and a driver’s-side knee airbag.

Pricing and Features

Shoppers can pick from six separate trim levels for the Chrysler Town and Country, starting with the new LX model, stickered at $29,995, and reaching an MSRP of $39,995 for the also-new Platinum edition. Then, in terms of content, minivan owners will find a full portfolio of infotaintment technologies, including a standard Uconnect system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen, voice control, Bluetooth connectivity and a six-speaker audio system. By the time folks get to the top of the range, the Town and Country boasts standard, Garmin-powered navigation; premium audio with nine Infinity speakers, an 11-channel amp and 506 watts of power; and a rear-seat entertainment system with dual 9-inch screens (one each for the second and third rows) and HDMI inputs are perfect for video gamers.
