2015 Acura TLX Video Review

The Acura TLX, which is an all new sedan for the 2015 model year, is an attempt to help consolidate and focus the brand’s ever-expanding lineup. Acura has phased out the TL and TSX sedan lineups, and the new TLX was designed to occupy the mid-sized spot in the market. Benjamin Hunting, Autobytel’s Road Test Editor, checked out the new Acura TLX to see how it compares to the outgoing Acura sedans as well as the competition in the mid-size luxury market.The two outgoing models were similar in style but had different drivetrains, to meet the needs of both four-cylinder and six-cylinder shoppers. For that reason, the TLX is available with two different engines, both new for this model, with upgraded power and improved fuel economy over the previous versions of these drivetrains. There is a 206-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder, and a 290-horsepower 3.5-liter V6. Both engines are paired to new transmissions, and all-wheel-drive is available as an option. The TLX achieves a sportier look than its predecessors thanks in part to shortened overhangs, allowing the car to maintain its wheelbase despite slightly smaller proportions. However, Acura managed to maintain generous space in the cabin, which is outfitted with high end materials to enhance a somewhat simpler instrument layout than Acura shoppers might be accustomed to.
