You know Jeep has had a strong month when the 2014 Jeep Compass sets an all-time high-water mark for volume, and such was exactly the case in April. Now, the Compass didn’t see quite the volume of Jeep’s top-selling troika—the 2014 Jeep Wangler, Cherokee and Grand Cherokee—in fact, at 5,367 April deliveries, it fell to last place on the brand’s sales leaderboard. But that was still a notable 20.2 percent jump over April of 2013.

As for those just-mentioned bestsellers, the Wrangler did join the 2014 Jeep Compass in the record books in April, thanks to 15,389 sales that represented a new benchmark for the month as well as a 14.5 percent spike in volume. But the No. 1 seller for the brand last month actually was the Grand Cherokee; the flagship SUV tallied 15,652 April sales, for a 4.3 percent bump. The Renegade also exceeded 15,000 sales, at 5,007 deliveries, and while it wasn’t on sale in 2013, so there is no year-over-year comparison available, it did improve on its March performance by a not-insignificant 8.8 percent.

Complementing those April jewels was the 2014 Jeep Patriot that led the brand in terms of volume gains, courtesy of a 44 percent sales improvement and 8,339 deliveries. And as was the case with the 2014 Jeep Compass and Wrangler, the Patriot passed a new milestone with that total, its highest ever for the month of April.

With the Cherokee essentially replacing the Jeep Liberty’s 721 sales from April 2013, the final tale of the tape for the brand was a whopping 52 percent gain, backed by 59,754 sales; that volume growth was the third-highest in the entire industry last month, behind only the niche brands Maserati and smart, and that volume total also led all Chrysler Group divisions.

Noted Reid Bigland, head of U.S. Sales for the automaker: “Strong consumer demand for our Jeep sport-utility vehicles and Ram pickup trucks continued in April as Chrysler Group extended its streak to 49-consecutive months of year-over-year sales gains. The spring selling season is heating up as our Jeep brand had its best monthly sales ever. Both of our minivans had a strong April and the Ram pickup truck had its best April sales ever.”
