The Ford Fiesta has fast made a name for itself for being both efficient and fun to drive. After the early success of this compact car, it’s no surprise that Ford is expanding the Fiesta’s reach. Ford has recently increased the Fiesta’s efficiency and power with the 2014 Ford Fiesta SFE model. Lisa Schoder, a Small Car Marketing Manager at Ford, spoke with Autobytel about the new Fiesta SFE. This version of the Fiesta offers a turbocharged 1-liter three-cylinder engine from Ford’s EcoBoost engine family. This is the first time this particular EcoBoost engine has been available in the United States, even though it is a familiar engine in the European Ford model lineup. Not only does the EcoBoost produce more horsepower than the base Fiesta, it’s rated by the EPA to achieve 45 miles per gallon on the highway. As Lisa Schoder points out, it’s unusual for an engine upgrade to be able to boast both improved power and improved efficiency. And, considering these benefits, it’s worth noting that the new Fiesta starts at just $995 more. The Fiesta SFE is based on the Fiesta SE, which is the mid-level trim, so the Fiesta SFE starts off with a solid list of standard equipment and features, and it also features an exclusive aerodynamic wheel design. The 2014 Ford Fiesta SFE is available in both sedan and hatchback body styles.
