In 1989, Toyota rocked the automotive industry to its core by introducing the Lexus brand and its first vehicle, the LS 400. The LS 400 showed the old guard in the luxury class what quality and luxury could and should be in the class. Since then, the LS has done its best to signify what a luxury sedan should be. The new 2013 LS is no different, bringing forth a wealth of changes and improvements in a very competitive class. But for the new LS, Lexus decided to add a bit of spice to the luxury flagship. They did so by introducing the new LS 460 F-Sport.
How does a LS 460 F-Sport differ from a normal LS 460? For starters, the F-Sport gives the LS’ exterior a more aggressive look. The spindle grille that is becoming a mark of new Lexus vehicles has a brand new honeycomb insert. The side features F-Sport badging and a set of nineteen-inch BBS alloy wheels. Inside, Lexus fitted a set of bolstered front seats that have the F-Sport insignia stitched into them, black leather with aluminum trim, Alcantara headliner, and paddle shifters. But don’t think the F-Sport is just all trim pieces to give it a sporting look. Lexus made sure to give it some bite as well. Under the hood is a 4.6L V8 engine producing 386 horsepower and 367 pound-feet of torque that goes through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Under the skin, the F-Sport adds a sport-tuned air suspension with driver-selectable modes, a Torsen limited-slip differential, and larger Brembo brakes. You can get an AWD version of the LS 460 F-Sport, but you do get less power: 360 horsepower and 347 pound-feet. EPA rates the LS 460 F-Sport at 16 City/24 Highway/19 Combined for the RWD model and 16 City/23 Highway/18 Combined for the AWD model.
The 2013 Lexus LS 460 F-Sport starts at $81,990 and comes standard with a ten-speaker sound system, Lexus Remote touch, a 12.3-inch color screen, navigation, Bluetooth, backup camera, sixteen-way power seat for the driver, twelve-way power seat for the passenger, heated and cooled seats, and much more. The LS 460 F-Sport AWD starts $84,885. Competitors to the 2013 Lexus LS 460 F-Sport include the Audi A8, BMW 750i, and Mercedes-Benz S550.
