The 2017 Honda Accord has good reason to celebrate: It has received the Autoweb Buyer's Choice Award from car buyers as their favorite Sedan, and it's observing its 40th anniversary here in the U.S. Hard to believe, but this perennially popular 4-door sedan has been with us since 1977.
To be clear, the 2017 Honda Accord 4-door sedan earned Autobytel Buyer's Choice accolades, but if you like what you’ve seen but would prefer a 2-door coupe version, you can go that way as well. There's even a new Coupe Touring edition for 2017.

It’s not just Autobytel passing out hardware to the 2017 Honda Accord. Car and Driver loves the car as well. In fact, the magazine recently honored the Accord with its 31st “10 Best” award. That's quite a legacy, and one that's fully deserved.

The available V6 engine for the 2017 Honda Accord is a great choice for drivers, as it leverages 3.5 liters worth of displacement to deliver 278 horsepower and 252 lb.-ft. of torque. That output is then managed by a 6-speed automatic transmission with a dedicated Sport mode that improves responsiveness and boosts performance.

The 2017 Honda Accord with its standard 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine is the high-volume model, and it gets impressive fuel economy (though not up to the excellent numbers of the Accord Hybrid). The 4-cylinder, which produces 189 horsepower and 182 lb.-ft. of torque, gives the 2017 Accord EPA ratings of 27 mpg city/36 mpg highway/30 mpg combined (with the CVT).

The 2017 Honda Accord has all kinds of available infotainment technologies, especially in the up-level trims. Those can be ordered with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, a 7-inch touchscreen, voice recognition, satellite-linked navigation, a wireless phone charger and a 360-watt audio system. An 8-inch multi-information display is standard.

The Honda Sensing package for the 2017 Honda Accord has nearly the full range of the automaker’s driver-assistance technologies, including collision-mitigation braking, lane-departure warning, forward collision, lane-keeping assistance, road-departure mitigation, and adaptive cruise control. Available separately are such features as a standard multi-angle rearview camera and optional LaneWatch blind-spot system.

As mentioned, this model year marks the 40th anniversary of the Accord’s U.S. debut, and the automaker is marking the occasion with the 2017 Honda Accord Sport Special Edition. Designed to emphasize the Accord's athletic appeal, this Special Edition sports leather seats with red stitching, heated front seats, and unique badging.

Nor is the Sport model the only Accord with sophisticated seating. In the 2017 Honda Accord Touring, for example, buyers also benefit from leather seating with a heated front row, plus heated outboard rear seats. Additionally, all Accords above the base model feature a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat.

By all accounts, the 2017 Honda Accord is an efficient automobile; none of the models, though, is anywhere near as fuel miserly as the new 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid. In fact, with EPA ratings of 49 mpg city/47 mpg highway/48 mpg combined, the Accord Hybrid has better fuel efficiency than hybrid versions of the Ford Fusion, Chevy Malibu, and Toyota Camry. Impressive.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has made its Top Safety Pick+ tests even tougher than before—adding a new headlight-performance evaluation—but customers can count on the 2017 Honda Accord to keep up. More specifically, the 2017 Accord Touring, backed by standard LED headlights and Honda Sensing, wins the award this year.
