2014 Jeep Cherokee Propels Brand to All-time Monthly Sales Record

Although it's still well off the pace of the segment leaders, the 2014 Jeep Cherokee continues to creep up the sales leaderboard in the compact crossover/SUV segment. The Cherokee delivered 13,796 units in its first March at dealerships, 17 percent more than during its first February, and that was a key factor in the brand setting a new high-water mark for monthly sales. All told, Jeep sold 57,983 vehicles in March, enjoying a steep 47 percent climb in volume. And note: Sales were so strong across the Jeep lineup that the brand would have achieved its record even without the 2014 Jeep Cherokee.

That's because three other Jeep vehicles had sales records of their own in March. The 2014 Jeep Patriot (8,431 sales, up 14 percent) and Jeep Compass (5,335 sales, up 4 percent) both set all-time monthly volume marks, while the 2014 Jeep Wrangler pitched in with its highest March volume ever. America's favorite rock crawler rocked a 12 percent jump in deliveries and sold 14,481 units last month.

But it was the big brother to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee—the 2014 Grand Cherokee—that set the pace with both the highest sales total for the division and its biggest percentage gainer. The tale of the tape here showed 15,940 sales for the Grand Cherokee, courtesy of a 26 percent increase in deliveries. As a result, the range-topping Jeep was the second-best-selling vehicle on the entire Chrysler Group roster in March, trailing only the 2014 Ram, of course.

It's also worth noting that, through the first three months of the year, Jeep has surpassed Dodge to become the automaker's highest-volume brand.

Needless to say, folks can expect the Jeep joint to keep jumping after the 2015 Renegade reaches dealerships, at a date that’s still to be determined.
