The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas kicked off 2014 with over 3,200 exhibitors showing off the latest in the tech sector. While some of the electronic gadgets are the future of automotive aftermarket, car manufacturers are increasing their participation as they continue to integrate infotainment and cutting-edge green technology into their vehicles. Autobytel brings you the latest from CES in pictures.

BMW showcased the all electric i3 at CES. The i3, Autobytel's 2014 Alt Fuel Car of the Year, features a carbon fiber body module with the batteries underneath the car, instead of simply filling the space a traditional combustion engine would have filled. Battery charging process as well as other vehicle data can be accessed via a smartphone app - truly a connected car.

Android connectivity is growing in aftermarket electronics, with both established names and newer brands competing in the Android integration space. Many aftermarket Android products outdo original manufacturer offerings in both functionality and visual design, and the sector is fast becoming highly competitive.

Automakers have been slower than their aftermarket counterparts to incorporate anything but rather limited Android functionality. Manufacturers such as KIA, Audi, Mazda and Mercedes-Benz are working to correct this oversight in future models in the coming year.
Chevrolet is adding 4G LTE to its OnStar system, and aggressively rolling out mobile wi-fi access in many 2015 models starting with the Spark, the Volt, Corvette, Silverado, and others. Multiple devices can be used at the same time, allowing passengers access to wi-fi, as well as improved OnStar performance.
Chevrolet is also promising that 2015 Corvette models will come equipped with the Corvette Performance Data Recorder option. Not just a built-in video recorder, the new feature will also display track position and record performance data.
Taking a step ahead, Ford displayed the C-MAX Solar Energi Concept - a plug-in hybrid featuring solar panels on the roof to self-charge its own batteries.
