GENERAL COMMENTS

"I own a 2006 Interlagos Blue M5 (the best color) with Black interior. I must say, I did not like the rear styling at first. I did not like the idrive. I did not like the voice commands. I did not like the lack of fog lights. Then I hit the M button. I quickly realized that no fog lights means more air intake. The iDrive takes about a month to learn then it is 2nd nature. The rear is built that way to hold multiple sets of golf clubs and the voice commands you learn over time. As for power/handling? I do not care what you drive, this is better. Honestly, this is about a close you as you can get to a Ferrari without a horse on the hood. This car is not for newbies or technophobes. It is for people with passion. A sleeper to the unknowing and a dream to the informed. I do wish it got better gas mileage, but when I paid $94,000 for it I knew what I was getting. My only other fault is that you have so many options. Just make them fully loaded out the door.. everyone I know who owns one gets the full barrel anyway. I will only get rid of this beast when they make the next M5. "

"First I just read a review of some guy that wrote about a 2007 M5 stating how it does not handle ect ect... that guy by the way does not own a new M5, he has driven or own a regular 5 Series E60. This is my second M5, I had a 2003 M5 which I fell in love with while I had a SL600, and Lotus Esprit Turbo, that M5 embarrassed both my other cars, and I was crazy about it, after a year I sent it to Dinan and pumped another 75hp out of it. in a nutshell that car was a hotrod, it felt like I was driving a Barracuda and everyone around me was in a Prius. (it just was not fair to the other cars) When I first saw the new 5, I did not like it, I thought the M5 was attractive but not the rear, hated the interior, and hated the V10 specs, the I drive, and no Manual, because I am an 8 year racing school veteran, I am die hard fan of Manual. I first drove the M5 2 months ago when I was about to replace my s-class for the New body S550, there was an M5 there I drove it and left with it, never thought I would by one. but here it is, if the last M5 was a hot rod, this one is more like a Jet, considerably faster because it puts all the power on the road like nothing you have ever seen, kind of feels like a Ferrari F430, but with slightly worn tyres, the precision of the steering is unbelievable, and the shifting, I dont care how fast you think you can shift this will shift 2 gears before you can pass neutral, very addictive, overall a tottally different beast for a different Generation, truly impressed"

"Buyer beware: There’s a reason for all those mediocre reviews out there in the automotive press. In truth, many of the reviews sound as though the writers think even less of the car than what they actually write, but are reluctant to bash a car with the reputation of the M5. Well that reputation was built from the first three US models. This one is fundamentally different. This is a Mercedes posing as a BMW. Its all about speed and comfort and lacks the handling of the earlier cars. Its very heavy and you feel every pound. It about cruising; not about flogging down a twisty road in the countryside. You feel disconnected from the road, there is no sense of immediacy on turn in. Every bit of feedback is filtered through a layer of electronics. This is my fourth M car and the first one I am really disappointed in. "
Plymouth Meeting , Pennsylvania - May, 2007
