The 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is a 4-door, 5-passenger luxury sedan, or luxury sports sedan, available in 5 trims, ranging from the C230 Sport Sedan to the C55 AMG Sport Sedan. Upon introduction, the C230 Sport Sedan is equipped with a standard 2.5-liter, V6, 201-horsepower engine that achieves 21-mpg in the city and 29-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, and a 7-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional. The C55 AMG Sport Sedan is equipped with a standard 5.5-liter, V8, 362-horsepower engine that achieves 17-mpg in the city and 22-mpg on the highway.
