 Detailed review:

I read with interest the reviews by your staff, however I find it puzzling that you would test an automatic. I have always had manuals, and would never want an auto. The manual civic has plenty of power. If you want to race around like a maniac, get the SI. But even regular civic's red line at 7K rpm, so slap it into third, and there's plenty of passing power. I owned a 99 SI, and it was fun, but I was tired of paying for premium fuel, and I didn't race around so much anyway. The new civic is an improvement over any previous one. Yeah, it's not a $50,000 BMW, but it is comfortable, refined, and has most features that people want without paying for extras. The two-tiered instument panel is a little dubious, but with the steep rake to the dash, it works ok, and you can dim it out at night. I got over it very quickly. The parking brake works great for me, Frees up alot of space, and my leg is nowhere near it. The car feels very comfortable, but the ride is stiff and tight, which some like, some don't. My only complaint is the lack of visibility out the rear window. I don't love the styling, but it's ok.
