What's New for the 2005 Mitsubishi Galant?
Side-impact airbags are included on all 2005 Mitsubishi Galants, addressing a major shortcoming with the large sedan. Free scheduled maintenance is also standard, covering the Galant for the first three years or 45,000 miles, whichever comes first. Other changes are minimal. All Galants have rear heat ducts this year, and ES models can be equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels and a Sport package that includes a rear lip spoiler and exhaust tip. Galant LS gets a standard power driver's seat, and the GTS receives Blackwood trim for the dashboard. Liquid Silver is a new exterior color for 2005. Mid-year, a new SE model debuted that included sporty trim inside and out, leather seats, and an MP3 player.

Completely redesigned for 2004, the Mitsubishi Galant struck us as an average effort sent to battle midsize sedan stalwarts such as the Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, and Toyota Camry. This year, with the addition of standard side-impact airbags and free maintenance for three years or 45,000 miles, we find the Mitsubishi Galant to be a more compelling alternative to the status quo.
