What's New for the 2005 GMC Yukon?
Change is in the wind this year for the 2005 GMC Yukon. The two-wheel-drive model now gets a 3.23 axle ratio standard, with an optional 3.73 available. Four-wheel-drive variants receive a 3.42 axle ratio with the option of 4.10 gearing for towing duties. With aftermarket electronic gizmos all the rage, all GMC Yukons get a 160-amp alternator to handle the added power demand. Enhancements have been made to tire pressure monitoring and navigation systems, and two new colors round out the changes for the 2005 GMC Yukon: Sand Beige and Blue-Green Crystal.

Advantages of the 2005 GMC Yukon:

  • Optional StabiliTrak stability control system
  • Available rear DVD entertainment system
  • Available adjustable foot pedals
  • Powerful V8 engines
  • Plenty of space for five passengers and cargo

Objections to the 2005 GMC Yukon:

  • Front seat comfort could be improved
  • Interior materials look and feel inexpensive
  • Tight third-row seat

Editor's Advice:
Unlike its bigger brother, the GMC Yukon XL, the 2005 GMC Yukon competes against formidable entries from Dodge, Ford, Honda, Nissan and Toyota. Stacked up against these newer trucks, the Yukon's appeal fades except for continually available rebates and low-interest financing. Don't fail to shop around first unless you’re a die-hard GMC fan.
