What's New for the 2004 Audi S4? Returning after a one-year hiatus, the Audi S4 rips into 2004, stuffed full of V8 muscle. This is a serious performance car, equipped with a 340-horsepower 4.2-liter V8 engine, all-wheel-drive, and room for four adults with a weekend bag for each stowed in the trunk. Power flows through a six-speed manual transmission, rushing the Audi S4 from rest to 60 mph in about 5.5 seconds. A Tiptronic automatic with an equal number of gears is also available.
Advantages of the 2004 Audi S4:
- Awesome power
- Standard all-wheel-drive
- Select between convertible, sedan or wagon
- Free scheduled maintenance
- Recaro front seats
Objections to the 2004 Audi S4: - Cramped rear seat
- Less-than-sexy sheetmetal wrappers
Editor's Advice: When considering the 2004 Audi S4, think Subaru WRX STi or Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, but with a massive dose of refinement and a look that doesn't beg for a speeding ticket. At this price point, sporting luxury cars rarely get any better than the 2004 Audi S4. Suddenly, Audi is dead serious about performance.
